Good afternoon,

I did a few things to the site, and will be making more things to better the site. If you have noticed, I have been posting news from everywhere, about hamfests, feild days, and other ham radio news, from the real to the funny. And speaking of news…

The Name for the new monthly newsletter is called The Antenna Wire. along with 2 other newsletters. You can find information about all of them here https://w8we.org/community/the-antenna-wire-newsletter-other-newsletters/ . and as of today you can signup for the newsletters on the left side, towards the bottom.

I created a New member welcome center in the members private section. I have some articles that I will be posting to there, so new members will not be overwhelmed with being a new ham, and club member. just a part of the welcome center.

As for the Antenna Wire newsletter. I have a link with all the other links to each newsletter, on submitting articles, Plus a way for companies to come and advertize as well. I am not going to favor just 1 place, I do not feel it is fair.

I have been fixing the contact us section. Itwas not properly coded correctly, so the links to the different board members, report repeater problems and other contacts, or forms. the forms themselves were fine, just the correct links to each one.

I will be posting to the main page about site updates. This way it will go into either the Good Morning Brew, or Weekly Brew newsletters. Hence I will be closing the one in the forums area, and putting all of them into a new section, with the present Site Update link, that will show All of the site updates in a better format.

Because amateur radio is much more than a hobby. It’s a community service!

Amateur radio operators are trained in radio communications. All hams receive training in the use of radio communication technology and operating procedures.

A ham radio operator’s special training is the reason why hams regularly take part in community events, sports events and, even emergencies of all kinds where competent and reliable radio communication services are required.

Competence alone does not make amateur radio expertise in demand. The demand might also have something to do with the fact that their services are free!

But “pricing” has no bearing on hams’ availability when the time comes to answer the “call of duty”. Amateur radio contribution to the safety of their fellow citizens in times of emergency is priceless and always readily available.

Events such as floods, severe weather, major accidents, environmental disasters … the list of emergency situations is endless, and amateur radio operators’ desire and ability to serve is boundless.

Incidentally, public service is the major reason behind a ham radio license immense privileges.

We readily serve, not only when called upon, but often before authorities get around to ask, we are already at work helping save lives and property.

“12 Days of QRZ” is underway where you can start racking up confirmed contacts now, one per day, a total of (12) twelve confirmed contacts needed to qualify for the QRZ Award.

To help Hams with award achievement, starting on 12/14, K4Z Volunteers will begin “12 Days of QRZ” Activations continuing daily for 12 Days providing qualifying, confirmed contacts thru 12/25.

Once you have (12) twelve confirmed contacts in your QRZ Logbook on (12) different days, you qualify for the award.

ALL confirmed contacts between 12/01/24 and 02/28/25, 1 per day, qualify for the award.

K4Z Activations supplement confirmed contacts you may already have, or may continue to accumulate until 02/28/25 – no need to wait until 12/14, go ahead and get on-the-air mindful contacts only qualify once confirmed in your QRZ Logbook.

Similar to our K4x History events offered throughout the year, the K4Z QRZ Page will list real-time activations to include frequency/mode/NCS name, so keep checking the K4Z during our 12 days of operation for Activation details – borrowing from Lionel Ritchie, we make it “easy like Christmas morning” to locate K4Z Activations.

The K4Z QRZ page is ready for your visit – come visit!

Happy Holidays with special thanks to QRZ Staff for offering another “12 Days of QRZ” Holiday Event!
